Lily’s Great Idea
Skylar T.

“Mary, get over here!” yelled Lily from an unknown place.
“Where are you?” I managed to yell back with the heat clogging my throat. I was sitting down on a nice, brown, cotton couch that laid on my back porch. I was looking for some nice, cool shade to perch under, because it is scorching out today. When I turned around, I found then under a nice big surface of shade from a towering peach tree my mom planted last year in the summer. I ran over as fast as my little wobbly legs could take me, and then plopped down beside my four best friends. Lily, Sarah, Helen, and Cary. When I was under the shade I felt refresh, like I had just jumped in an ice-cold pool. I looked at Lily, and was wondering what she was thinking.
“What?” I finally managed to ask her.
“Well, I was thinking we could play, well…. Zero?” She said all stumbled. My four friends and I were all looking at her nodding yes.
It is the perfect game to play when it is really hot in the summer.
“CHARLIE! WHERE ARE YOU!”? We all screamed. He came barging out side. We ran to my tree house. I’m always the number Zero, which is the first person to go. We all went down the swirly slide on my tree house saying our numbers.
“ZERO!” I yelled.
“ONE!” Lily screamed.
“TWO!” Sarah hollered.
“THREE!” Cary exclaimed.
“FOUR!” Helen shouted.
Then we all said our favorite animals. Pigs, cats, dogs, bunnies. But after we say our numbers we high five the person in front of us.
“RUN!” I yelled as Charlie, My big, fat, fluffy dog came sprinting towards us. I reached the old wooden fence and said my number, everyone else after that said their number too. The object of the game is to run across my yard without Charlie touching you. And then you have to run back. Luckily we all made it back safe and sound.
BOOM! CRACK! It’s lighting! Oh-no it can’t be raining and lightning now. We can’t play our game anymore! We ran inside my little house, jumping up and down form the loud booms from the lightning. When we got inside we grabbed nice, soft, thick towels fom my laundry room, and dried off. And again, Lily’s pale face was hatching a new idea. We asked what it was.
“Well, it’s raining out, and I was thinking maybe that, we could play Wormy Water Slide.” She told uys in an odd way , like she was embarrassed to tell us. “Yeah!” We all shouted to her.
“Well okay lets go find some worms then!” She responded back, as we went outside my front screen door. When it rains worm like to squirm out of their little homes because they don’t like rain. And when it rains The gutter gets filled up like a water slide at an amusement park.
“There!” I yelled. It was a Fat, slimy worm lying down on the surface of the flat concrete. I picked it up and ran up the rocky street, and all my friends grimaced. I squatted down beside the curb and let the worm go.
“Bombs away!” I yelled. We followed it down the street. I had the best day ever. I found out we can have a good day with a great idea no matter what it is.
